England

And I'm off....

"Let us see that we keep God before our eyes;

that we walk in His ways and seek to please and glorify Him in everything,

great and small. Depend upon it, God's work,

done in God's way, will never lack God's supplies."

---Hudson Taylor---

Well, I'm heading off for England tomorrow. As excited as I am about getting out of Texas for the summer to spend it in Europe, I'm realizing this summer is not about me. It really is about God and what He doing. Duh, some of you might say, isn't this what our whole life is really about? Yes it is, and as much as I can *believe* that truth, the way I live my life is not always reflective of it.
When I first found out I was going, I was so excited and couldn't help but think of all the fun travel adventures I was going to have and how this was going to be such an awesome experience for me. While I feel very blessed to be able to go to England and Italy, I think I would be just as excited if I were going to Iowa. I'm trying to set aside my agenda and really just listen to God. As much as I would love to see different things in England during the 2 months I'm there, I really just feel open to what God is going to do.
This week, as I've been praying, I have been so aware of my lack but God keeps reminding me that it is not about me- but Him. I know He has great plans and will provide me with all I need to do His work. That quote from Hudson Taylor really just summarizes my hopes for this summer- to keep my eyes on God, glorify Him and trust that He will provide all I need! Please keep me in your prayers especially that I will be able to build a relationship with the kids on base over the next few weeks and that my own nervousness will not get in the way of stepping out of my comfort zone.
"My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.'

  2. I would like to challenge the following statement: "I think I would be just as excited if I were going to Iowa." Really?
