Germany

My German home

12/13/2009

I finally got all my stuff the week of Thanksgiving and I've been unpacking like crazy. So here are some pictures of my new place!

My German landlords, who live in the apartment below me, left me a St. Nikolas day gift on Dec 6 outside my front door. Typically you are supposed to set your shoes out to be filled with gifts but this was a nice surprise I wasn't expecting.
Bathroom:
Spare Bedroom- ready for company any time!
My bedroom
I haven't hung anything yet because my walls are basically concrete so my windowsills are a nice picture holder!

Hallway leading to kitchen from the bedrooms:
Kitchen:

I love this kitchen! It is nice and open and all the appliances are new. Notice my green Ikea chairs for my kitchen table. My landlord gave me disapproving looks- 'You like this color?'
I did put up a tree and some Christmas decorations. In Germany they don't usually put the tree up until Christmas eve and take it down on Jan 6th. That is just too short of a time for me!
Living Room:
It's nice because you can see the tree lights outside because of my big window.

The only room I didn't show is the office because it's basically my junk room until I can get some more storage/organization. My house really feels like a home now and I love being in it!

  2. I'm loving your new place - can't wait to see it in person. Bob is thinking about taking a contractor job that requries him (us) to travel to Germany & Italy several times in the coming months. Love & miss you!
