After the Black Forest, we continued on to the winery and to Colmar in France. The town was really great- lots of lights at night that really made the town look beautiful, fun stores, great food and beautiful half timbered houses. There was even a section of town known as little Venice that had canals running through it. I could tell we were in France but this region has a lot of German influence to it since it is so close to the border. The French language is sure a lot more beautiful though!
This was definitely a long trip for a weekend but it was a great time and something I may never have done on my own without the tour from post.
French soap that looks good enough to eat!
Tarte flambee (or Flemkusch in Alsatian) is similar to pizza, though extremely different. Traditionally, it is made of a thin layer of dough, covered with crème fraîche (light fresh cheese that doesn't truly have an American equivalent), cheese, onions, and bacon. It was very good!
